In a very Pariian style, this collection was dominated by black and white tones, and featured large pants and blouses, XL coats. A show full of charm.

Milan Fashion Week Day 2 Fall Winter RTW 2012 / 2013: Max Mara, Fendi, Blugirl and Prada

29 February 2012 § 1 Comment

For this second day of the Milan Fashion Week, we had the pleasure to see Max Mara, Fendi, Blugirl and Prada present their winter collections.

Get on board for the Max Mara show, in which the Captain was a woman; a spenlid, full of personality and attitude woman dressed in tailored suits, jumpsuits and masculine coats in tones of kaki, beige, off white and ochre.

Fendi showed round shoulders and hips collection in which feathers and furs were the star guests. In bright yellow or green as well as in more sober black, grey and purple tones, the two designers succeeded at creating a chic and extravagant collection, mixing leathers, chiffons and silks for a haut-en-couleur result.

Even if it started with pastel tones, the Blugirl show quickly went to a black and white pattern. All of them wearing hats, the models presented a typical winter collection in which fur boots and coats played the main role, though pearled evening dresses closed the collection.

“Retro” was the key word to understand the Prada collection, a mix of all your grandmother’s outfits in a collection supposedly sold to 21th century consumers… Graphic and geometric tapestry-like prints on 3 pieces suits? Definitely not my cup of tea.

Milan Fashion Week Day 1 Fall Winter RTW 2012 / 2013: Gucci, John Richmond, N°21 and Francesco Scognamiglio

Milan fashion week kicked off with great shows, among which Gucci, John Richmond, N°21 and Francesco Scognamiglio.

Francesco Scognamiglio presented a collection in which black leather was mixed with pretty much any other existing fabric, in a very costume and theatrical way, on lace dresses with black leather knee length skirts or all black weather fit form dresses. At the extreme opposite of this collection, N°21 showed out-of-bed like outfits that the models wore with messy-like hairstyle. Blue, pale pink or grey as well as pearled dresses, round bottom collarless shirts and clean straight lined blouses were presented during this collection.

As for the John Richmond show, the presentation was classically designed, going from daywear to nightwear, all of which in a utterly elegant, refined and chic way, in tones of white, grey and black, and using laces, velvet, organza and satin to enhance the women’s bodies.

Finally Gucci, the most expected show of the day, didn’t disappoint with their flower/feathers/velvet combinations in tones of emerald green, black and burgundy, that empowered a strong and elegant woman.
